Back in the summer of 2012, I was contracted by the folks at Le Poisson Rouge in New York to produce a series of videos depicting the quality of their highly eclectic programming. Founded by musicians on the site of the historic Village Gate in New York’s West Village, Le Poisson Rouge is a multimedia art cabaret dedicated to the fusion of popular and art cultures in music, film, theater, dance, and fine art.
During my week in New York, I had the opportunity to sit down with DJ/producer/recording artist Matthew Dear, who took the decks at a packed LPR for a DJ set heavy on techno and house music. Dear talks about the vibe at LPR and the state of electronic music. And yeah, he let me bring my video camera.
Enjoy…
Oh, and check out this trailer produced by Brooklyn-based production company M ss ng p eces for Matthew Dear’s latest album, Beams.
