Very happy to announce that my award-winning short documentary film, Angels with Shoes, took home the Best Documentary award at the inaugural Film Miami Fest. The film, which tells the story of a living kidney donation between cousins Yaredly and Kiara, was filmed mainly in Miami and Puerto Rico so to have already won the ‘Best International Short’ and ‘Audience Choice’ awards at the Rincón International Film Festival in Puerto Rico earlier this year made winning this award in Miami all the more sweet.
Want to thank the good folks at Film Miami Fest for selecting our film as well as for putting on a good show for their first year. With its present leadership, this festival has great potential to be one of the most highly anticipated short film festivals in the southeast United States.
Want to also thank my family for all their support as I set off on this filmmaking journey. Could not have come so far without them. Oh, and remember, becoming an organ donor takes less than 60 seconds and can save up to eight lives. Sign up at DonateLife.net – the 123,000 people waiting for a life-saving organ transplant in the U.S. will thank you.

Here I am with director Alexa Polar and producer/cinematographer Robin Pabello of America Foreclosed. The festival judges couldn’t decide which film should win the Best Documentary prize so both our films received the award. Look for it on the film festival circuit…

Winning is always sweeter when I have the family by my side…
