Classic Movie Poster REDUX: The Seven Year Itch [1955]

This week, we're featuring the Italian movie poster for Billy Wilder's "steamy" comedy from 1955, The Seven Year Itch, starring Tom Ewell and Marilyn Monroe. The illustrator of the poster goes under the mysterious "nom de plume" of P. Franco.

The film, based on a three-act play of the same name by George Axelrod, featured the "infamous" shot of Marilyn Monroe's white dress being blown above her knees as she stands on a subway grate (which can still be be seen at the northwest corner of Lexington Avenue and 52nd Street). The dress recently sold at an auction for 4.6 million dollars(!).

See you next week...
