Despite living in South Florida for over 20 years (from NYC), I only discovered the Miami Beach Bandshell a mere few years ago. The open-air venue, designed in MiMo style (mid-century Miami Modern) by architect Norman Giller in 1961, hosts 120+ events each season. It is located in the heart of the MiMo Historic District in the city’s North Beach neighborhood and has been managed by the Rhythm Foundation for the City of Miami Beach since 2015.

My alter ego Dan Perez Photography has photographed several events at the Miami Beach Bandshell since discovering the venue, thanks to a partnership with my lil brother’s live music venue in NYC, Le Poisson Rouge, and the Bandshell.

This also means that my alter ego usually gets a photographer pass whenever there’s a show he’s interested in checking out. He was present last weekend to see “Fiesta Flamenca” presented by Ballet Flamenco La Rosa, a professional Flamenco company, based in Miami and made up of dancers and musicians from Spain, Latin America and the U.S.
And despite the presence of my photographer side, I managed to capture a few bits of video while viewing what was a fiery flamenco performance. Need proof? Check out the videos below…
