Give Miami Day, hosted by The Miami Foundation, is one of the nation’s largest 24-hour annual giving events. For many South Florida nonprofits, it is the biggest fundraising day of the year. I’d like to introduce you to one such nonprofit, Achieve Miami, who last year ranked #3 among all nonprofits in Miami, raising over $740,000 from over 400 individual donors.
Since its founding in 2015, Achieve Miami has sought to bridge disparities, provide meaningful educational experiences, and close opportunity gaps for students throughout Miami-Dade. Together with partners from the public and private sector, Achieve Miami designs and manages programs that bring together members from various parts of the community to extend learning opportunities for students, teachers, and community leaders.
For the second year in a row, I spent a few days documenting their various programs, illustrating the organization’s dedication to fostering a transformational education ecosystem in Miami. Using interviews with team leaders and volunteers, video footage and photography, this year’s video was another rewarding experience.

Achieve Saturdays
At Achieve Saturdays, students realize their full potential through the power of connection. Achieve Saturdays is our flagship program that connects students from 1st to 5th grade with high school volunteers from ninth to twelfth grade throughout South Florida. Little Buddies and Big Buddies join twice a month to connect over reading, writing, and fun activities.
Achieve Music
Achieve Music educates over 200 public 2nd to 6th grade elementary students through daily after-school programming in band, voice, percussion, and music theory. Students not only develop skills in playing an instrument, reading music, and working with an ensemble, they also increase their self-control, confidence, listening skills, and verbal intelligence.
Achieve Summer
Achieve Summer is a full-day, six-week program that engages rising elementary students in high-quality academic and enriching summer experiences, while developing the capacity of high school students, and the leadership of professional teachers across Miami-Dade.
