Give Miami Day, which happens this Thursday, November 17, is one of the largest annual giving events in the nation. During the 24–hour event, you can visit the profiles of over 900 nonprofit organizations serving Miami-Dade County – big and small, new and established – and make charitable gifts to support the causes you care about.
Give Miami Day is hosted by The Miami Foundation who are focused on building the philanthropic, civic, and leadership backbone for Greater Miami. Since 1967, the Foundation has invested $485 million to strengthen the community with partnerships and contributions from more than 1000 fundholders and 35,000 donors. Last year, Give Miami Day raised $32.1 MILLION(!) so yeah, it’s a pretty big deal.
Now let me introduce you to a very special nonprofit organization I had the privilege of being of service to – PATCHES PPEC Medical Daycare. Watch the video below…

Located in Florida City, Florida, PATCHES PPEC* offers parents the peace of mind brought about by a program staffed by health care professionals who are expertly trained in the care of children with both acute and chronic conditions. The center is fully equipped and staffed to accommodate children who require the support of ventilators, tracheostomies, oxygen therapy, and feeding tubes, or who have other special medical needs. Supportive therapies, respiratory care, educational programming, and door-to-door transportation are also available.
Medically fragile children, however, access more care than any other singular group of children and the PATCHES Village is the response to the growing needs of these children and young adults in the community. The new village, estimated to be a 50,000 square foot state-of-the-art building, will be nestled on 5 acres of land in the South Florida area and provide pediatric and young adult medical day care, skilled nursing, durable medical equipment, pharmacy services, specialized schooling, and social services to support the many additional children and families that are in need of these services.
Children stricken with critical, long-term medical conditions need care every day. Their survival and well-being takes time, energy, commitment, and resources, plus a costly emotional toll on parents. You can help increase the ability to provide life-saving care to these children and much-needed emotional/financial support to their parents by supporting PATCHES Village.
