Very happy to announce that my award-winning short film, Angels with Shoes, has been named an official selection of the ENFOQUE International Film Festival in Puerto Rico. The announcement marks the return to Puerto Rico for the film, parts of which were shot on the island and where the film made its world premiere at the 2014 Rincón International Film Festival.
The ENFOQUE International Film Festival was established with the purpose of showing films that will contribute and change people’s lives through the power of filmmaking and cinematography. The festival, which was launched in 2009, presents distinctive feature films and short films by emerging filmmakers from all over the world. The films they screen not only inspire, uplift, educate, transform and inform, but that entertain as well.
The festival kicks off on March 2 and runs through March 5. Our film will screen on the “Puerto Rican Films” night on Friday March 4th @ 7pm. Screenings will be held at Escuela Libre de Musica in Mayagüez (where my father was born!).
“Angels with Shoes” tells the story of a living kidney donation between two cousins from Puerto Rico, Yaredly and Kiara (the donor). The transplant operation took place in Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and leads up to the the celebration of the one-year anniversary of the transplant. The film has won the “Best International Short” and “Audience Choice” awards at the Rincón International Film Festival and “Best Documentary” award at Film Miami Fest. The film has also screened at film festivals in Mexico, India and Spain.
We couldn’t be happier that our story of love, life and living donation will be returning to Puerto Rico and continuing to reach a new audience…
