Excited to announce that my short documentary film GRAFSTRACT: The Bronx Street Art Renaissance has been named an official selection and will make it’s world premiere at DocuTIFF, the documentary arm of the Tirana International Film Festival in Tirana, the capital city of Albania.
DocuTIFF will take place this coming May, 9–13, 2015 in the open air Amphitheatre of the University of Arts. The need for this new festival creation was born after about 5,400 films in all categories were submitted to the 12th edition of TIFF in 2014. In an attempt to showcase more quality films, festival directors decided to create new annual competitions for each category such as DocuTIFF, AnimaTIFF, ExpoTIFF, for documentary film, animated and experimental films.
‘GRAFSTRACT: The Bronx Street Art Renaissance’ is a short documentary film I directed, shot & edited in the Bronx in the summer of 2014. The film tells the story of artist SinXero and his mission to beautify the Bronx with the help of some of the world’s top street artists via his TAG Public Arts Project. Honored to have the film make it’s world premiere at such a well-established festival.
Also, the film has also been named an official selection of Muestra Audiovisual: La Imagen de la Memoria in Medellín, Colombia. The festival, now in its 5th year, will take place from May 20-24 and focuses on films that address the social and cultural realities of environments all over the world. Happy to have been selected and that this film will now have an audience in another part of the world…
