Founded by self-proclaimed music nerd Dana Rossi, The Soundtrack Series is about stories. Stories about songs, that is. Every fourth Thursday of the month at New York’s premiere multimedia art venue, Le Poisson Rouge, a collection of writers, comedians, musicians and other artists gather to discuss the tunes that influenced their lives and informed their work.
The Soundtrack Series had its first show in February of 2010 at Waltz Astoria Cafe, then moved to The Gallery at Le Poisson Rouge in September of 2010, where it currently runs the fourth Thursday of every month. Since its inception, The Soundtrack Series has been featured on NY1, The New York Times, BUST Magazine, “Above & Beyond” in The New Yorker, a “Critic’s Pick” in Time Out New York, a Gothamlist Event of the Week, and included among the “Best Events in NYC” by CBS News New York.
I had the opportunity to spend an evening with the very animated Dana Rossi in New York last year and produce a video of The Soundtrack Series for Le Poisson Rouge. So take a few minutes to get to know the songs, the stories behind the songs, and the stories inspired by the songs. Oh, and if you happen to be in New York this week, The Soundtrack Series is celebrating their three year anniversary THIS THURSDAY NIGHT. Why not check it out?
Enjoy…
