Here’s the second in a series of posts (HERE is the first) that look back on the remarkable week that was at VACC Camp, a free week-long overnight camp for ventilation assisted children hosted each spring by Miami Children’s Hospital (now Nicklaus Children’s Hospital). Nikki Beach Miami is one of the favorite annual stops for these campers. With several campers strapped to 500+ pound wheelchairs, a sandy beach is usually the last place you’ll find them.
But the Miami Beach Fire Rescue department lay down wood panels on the sand so that those campers on wheelchairs can make it through the sand. This post includes a video I shot last year of the camp at the beach as well as a few photographs I took this year.
